At the end of December 31st, when the New Year was about to arrive, the very first visitor of the movie plattform adjaranet.com in 2018 received an unusual message: “You are our Mekvle!” After a few days of discussion online, the intrigue was revealed, and the Mekvles became participants of a mural project.

Entirely composed of the names of those first visitors of Adjaranet, the mural features the portraits of Charlie Chaplin, Darth Vader, and Kristefore Mgaloblishvili, the main character from the Georgian film The Eccentrics (Sherekilebi).

Traditionally, the first visitor to a home, the so-called “Mekvle”, is considered a good spirit who brings luck and blessings for the entire year. The murals creatively transfer this tradition into the digital world, making the visitors themselves part of the film legends.

"The Eccentrics" (Sherekilebi), released in 1974, is an iconic Georgian film directed by Eldar Shengelia, with a screenplay by Rezo Gabriadze and music composed by Gia Kancheli. The film humorously and poetically portrays the eccentricities and adventures of its characters in a small Georgian town.
